Someone on X (Twitter) told me:
“You’re just regurgitating what you’ve heard from Peter Attia and Andrew Huberman, Ted.”
They were referring to my current posts about HIIT, Zone 2 cardio, and the importance of VO2 max for longevity.
I love it when this happens.
Why?
Because it allows me to show that I’ve been talking about this stuff for many years.
Peter Attia started his podcast in 2018.
Andrew Huberman started his podcast in 2021.
I started mine in 2015.
My first mentor, who changed my perspective on the importance of aerobic exercise, was Strength Coach Joel Jamieson.
I found Joel after struggling with my aerobic fitness during Brazilian jiu-jitsu training.
This was years before I started my podcast.
But I eventually got him on the show in 2016 (insert episode 11 ways to workout smarter than ever) to talk about how cardio can save your life.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Peter Attia and Andrew Huberman. And I’ve learned things from them.
But I’ve been in the health & fitness world for 25+ years.
I’m just not as famous… yet haha
Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:
1. Are Peptides Worth The Hype?
Have you heard about people using peptides for their health?
They go by weird names like “BPC-157” or “CJC-1290”.
Well, I had a medical doctor on the show to discuss the popular peptides on the who as well as what you should know about them.
We also discuss the often misunderstood role of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in weight loss and health optimization.
Dr. Seltzer breaks down the myths and realities, providing actionable advice for those struggling with low energy, stubborn belly fat, and other common issues.

2. The #1 Strategy For Longevity And Health
A 2024 editorial by the British Journal of Sports Medicine is promoting strength training for longevity and health.
While VO2 max is winning the popularity content for longevity, lifting weights provides benefits that you can’t get from just doing Zone 2 cardio or HIIT.
Muscle strength is a powerful predictor of all-cause mortality (death from any cause). So stronger people are harder to kill.
Research has also found strong relationships between muscle strength and:
• Less prone to falls
• Fewer broken bones
• Lower rates of depression
• Fewer sleep problems
• Lower risk of diabetes
• Higher overall quality of life
• Lower risk of cognitive impairment
So while cardio is key to optimal health, strong muscles are the foundation to build a high VO2 max on.
3. The Best Way To Maximize Your Warm-up For Peak Performance
Looking to maximize your warm-ups?
Ditch the static stretches & upgrade to the World’s Greatest Stretch!
Perfect before lifting weights or your next jiu-jitsu session.
Why it rocks:
✔️Boosts mobility, not just flexibility
✔️Ideal for dynamic warm-ups
✔️Reduces injury risk
Try 5-10 reps on each side before your workout or during breaks in your busy schedule.

Quote of the week:
“You will never find one answer to what makes you happy. There are many answers, and they change based on your current state.People need to relax, but if all you do is sit on the beach, it gets old. People find meaning in work, but if all you do is work, it gets exhausting. People benefit from exercise, but if all you do is exercise, it gets unhealthy.Happiness will always be fleeting because your needs change over time. The question is: what do you need right now?”– James Clear
