Last weekend, I flew to Tenerife, Spain 🇪🇸 to attend a live event with my mentor Peter Sage.
Why?
Because I’ve been feeling too comfortable.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been feeling stressed. But it’s a comfortable sort fo stress. One that I’ve been living with for too long.,
So I knew I needed to push the limits of my comfort zone to get to the next level personally and professionally.
I’m having my own live event on October 24th, so I thought attending Peter’s event would put me in the right frame of mind and boost my energy.
Did it work?
Hell yes.
But why did it work?
You see, when we’re stuck in a rut or making slow progress, we need to elevate our mindset and skill set to get out.
Many people already know this and listen to podcasts, watch videos and read books.
But the problem with this approach is that it’s a low level of investment.
You’re in the same environment.
You’re performing the same habits.
You’re surrounded by the same people.
So it’s easy to feel like you’re being productive while reading a book or listening to a podcast.
But then the same people and patterns make it hard to create significant shifts in your mindset and habits.
However, when you have to fly to a different location and surround yourself with like-minded people, this creates a springboard to make fast progress.
How does it work?
Being in a new environment disrupts your typical habits.
Being surrounded by like-minded people sets new standards.
Being challenged emotionally ensures that what you learn stays with you.
This doesn’t mean that attending events is a magic bullet. You still need to follow through afterward to change your habits, routines, and environment.
But if you’re already working hard to level up, going to a live event can be the magic bullet you’re looking for!

The missing key to optimizing your workouts
Do you use isometrics in your workouts?
I had my friend Brad Thorpe back on my podcast recently to discuss isometric exercise.
If you don’t know Brad, he’s created an isometric program used by elite organizations like the US Army, FBI, and pro sports teams such as the Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and more.
We discussed:
- Why you need to include isometrics in your training
- The best exercise to lower blood pressure
- How isometrics can supercharge your strength
- Why isometrics can help prevent injuries
- How to get started with isometrics
And much more…

Lifting Weights Makes You Smarter?
A 2023 study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning research found that lifting weights improves brain function.
The researchers measured the cognitive performance of university students at rest and after a full-body workout. Post workout, processing speed and attention got a boost. This finding is in line with previous studies but is adding to the body of research that exercise is key to brain health.
This finding is in line with previous studies and my own experience. Both lifting weights and cardio have been productivity tools that I use when I need to get things done. Especially when creativity or problem solve is involved.
I’ve heard many people say, “I don’t mind if my body has problems as long as my brain still works.”
But it’s turning out that exercise is the best thing we can do to keep our brains functioning optimally.
My favorite exercise to improve your posture and strength
Looking for an exercise for back exercise that improves your posture and strength?
Then try my new favorite back exercise:
Half-kneeling single arm cable row.
This exercise is a great alternative to single arm dumbbell rows. The half-kneeling position forces you to operate from a position of good alignment Ent. And it’s easy to continue to load for progressive gains.
I started doing this row version after tweaking my elbows during jiujitsu. Using dumbbells were aggravating my arms. Then I switched to this exercise and haven’t looked back.
How many sets? 2-4
How many reps? 6-12.
Try it!

Quote of the Week:
“Focus on your likes, not your wants.
- You may not want to exercise, but you like how it makes you feel.
- You may not want to write, but you like the feeling of accomplishment.
- You may not want to wake up early, but you like the calm beauty of morning.
Wanting is the desire you feel before doing something. Liking is the satisfaction you feel after doing something. Let your likes guide you.”
