Ted Talk 180: Unlocking the Million-Dollar Mindset: My $15,000, One-Day Coaching Journey

The sage Confucius once said, “The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” But what if you decided to speed up that process, to intensify the friction, to deliberately seek the trials?

Imagine a diamond. It starts its journey deep beneath the earth’s surface as a lump of coal. The coal undergoes immense pressure and temperature over millions of years, transforming it into a brilliant diamond. Now, imagine if you could replicate that process in a single day, transforming your mindset from coal to diamond in 24 hours.

I did that. I invested $15,000 in a one-day intensive coaching session. The price tag might seem exorbitant, but the lessons I learned and the transformation I experienced were priceless.

Here’s what I discovered:

1. The Power of the Mindset

You’ve probably heard stories of lottery winners who end up broke, or professional athletes who squander their fortunes. Why does this happen? It’s all about their mindset. Conversely, consider successful entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Richard Branson. If you stripped them of their wealth, their connections, and their businesses, but let them retain their mindset, they would likely rebuild their success.

Mindset isn’t just about being positive or motivated. It’s about how you perceive the world, how you handle setbacks, and how you make decisions. It’s a deeply ingrained set of beliefs and attitudes that guide your actions.

2. Your Company Shapes Your Mindset

Spending a day with Shannon, my coach highlighted the impact of those I surround myself with on my mindset. Your environment significantly influences your thoughts, beliefs, and ultimately, your actions. The mindset of the individuals in your environment can either uplift you or bring you down. I experienced this firsthand during a group coaching call when I realized that the mindset of a fellow member was subtly affecting me negatively.

3. Maintaining Your Mindset Requires Work

Peak experiences like my day with Shannon can give you a tremendous boost, but they are transient. Just as my colleague who attended a Tony Robbins event experienced an initial high, only for it to fade away. This is why long-term coaching is crucial.

You need someone or something to hold you accountable, to keep you grounded and focused even when you’re not feeling on top of the world.

In addition to that, having your habits and routines dialled in to support your mindset upgrade is crucial.

4. Investment is Key to Elevate Your Mindset

Expanding your mindset isn’t something you can achieve by merely reading books or listening to podcasts. It requires experiential learning, which often means investing time, energy, and yes, money. My next step is to join Peter Diamandis’ Abundance 360 mastermind group, to stay at the forefront of longevity research. It’s $22,500 per year.

5. Coaching is a Powerful Catalyst for Change

With my 24 years of coaching experience, I’ve always been a believer in the transformative power of coaching. But this intensive one-on-one coaching session was a game-changer. It was the most potent booster for my personal and professional growth.

My $15,000 investment led to a radical transformation. I felt like a lump of coal turning into a diamond. The value of these insights and the growth they’ve spurred far exceed the price tag. Yes, it was a big investment, but the return — a millionaire’s mindset — was infinitely larger.
