Organifi Green Juice Review 2019: Is It Worth The Money?

There are a lot of Green Juice Superfood reviews out there. If you want to cut through the hype about Organifi Green Juice and learn the good, the bad, and whether it’s worth your money, then you want to read this article.

Juicing and superfood powder supplements are big money. And it seems wherever we turn, were being promoted the benefits of greens powders and vegetable juices. You can find green juice drinks at your local supermarket, and even at Starbucks. I’m in Chiang Mai, Thailand right now as I write this and green juice is already a “thing” here as well.

In case you’re interested in whether or not using greens powder supplements actually does anything positive for your health, you should read my article https://www.legendarylifepodcast.com/super-greens-are…thy-or-just-hype/ first.

Now, that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s turn our attention back to Organifi Green Juice.

What Is Organifi Gree Juice Powder?

Although you’ve probably seen the ads on Youtube or heard it being promoted on podcasts, let’s quickly go over what it is.

Organifi is a powdered superfood and greens supplement that allows you to get your greens in without having to juice go through the trouble of preparing it with a juicer. If you’ve ever made your own juice at home before, you know it’s a pain to clean up after. It can also be quite expensive depending on which ingredients you use and how big of a juice you make.

Since Organifi is a powder made with gently dried organic greens, all you need to do is pour a serving or two into a glass of water, stir, and then drink it down. This provides you with a nutritious superfood drink that only takes a few seconds to prepare with minimal clean up afterward.

We’ll get to Organifi’s specific ingredients and whether they’re scientifically backed in a bit.

Other important facts about Organifi is that it has just 24 calories per serving and delivers two grams of protein, 2 mg of iron, 31 mg of calcium, 5100 mg of greens, and 1450 mg of a superfood blend.

The container comes with 30 servings at a price of $69.95 USD if you buy a single bottle. That works out to $2.33 per serving. So it’s midrange in terms of price. I’ve seen cheaper and more expensive greens supplements.

What Ingredients are in Organifi?

Now let’s get down to business. If you’re not that familiar with supplements, it’s ALL about the ingredients and dosages of ingredients in the product. All the marketing claims and fancy graphics should be ignored when you’re determining whether you should invest in a supplement or not.

Let’s dive into each of Organifi’s ingredients and what the science says about them.

There are two sets of ingredients in Organifi Green Juice. An “alkaline greens blend” and a “superfood” blend.

Alkaline greens blend ingredients:

Wheatgrass:

Wheatgrass is prepared from the freshly sprouted leaves of the common wheat plant, Triticum aestivum. Wheatgrass is a source of many different vitamins and minerals. It is especially high in vitamins A, C and E, as well as iron, magnesium, calcium and amino acids.

Studies on wheatgrass have found the benefits include:

  • Lower cholesterol levels (R, R)
  • Fight cancer (R, R)
  • Better blood sugar regulatation (R, R)
  • Lower chronic inflammation (R)

The Bottom Line

Although more studies are needed to confirm the benefits of wheatgrass, drinking it as part of an overall healthy diet might provide some extra nutrients and several health benefits.

Moringa:

Although moringa is a fairly new to the West, it has been used as a medicinal herb in India for thousands of years. It’s rich in antioxidants and may provide some additional health benefits.

Studies on moringa have found the benefits include:

  • May significantly boost blood antioxidant levels (R)
  • May help control blood sugar levels (R, R)
  • May reduce blood pressure (R)
  • May lower cholesterol (R, R, R, R)
  • May have anticancer benefits (R)

The Bottom Line

Moringa is a promising supplement that has a long history of medicinal use and some legitimate science to back up its benefits.

Spirulina:

It is blue-green alga that is high in iron, calcium, and protein which provide energy and strength. It’s loaded with B vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids. It’s also often used as a vegan source of protein.

Studies on spirulina have found the benefits include:

  • Improves cholesterol levels (R)
  • Reduces chronic inflammation (R)
  • Reduces blood pressure (R, R)
  • Reduces muscle damage caused by exercise (R)
  • Boosts exercise performance (R)
  • Improves fatty liver disease and general liver health (R, R)
  • Boosts immune system function (R)

The Bottom Line

Spirulina is a science-backed superfood with multiple benefits to human health and exercise performance. It’s a winner.

Chlorella:

It is a freshwater green algae that has high amounts of polyunsaturated fats and proteins and it helps in reducing inflammation and even treatment of cancer. You can only take chlorella as a supplement to get its benefits because in its natural form, it has a hard cell wall that humans cannot digest.

Studies on chlorella have found the benefits include:

  • Lower cholesterol levels (R, R, R)
  • Boosts blood levels of antioxidants (R)
  • Lowers blood pressure (R)
  • Lowers arterial stiffness (R)
  • Lowers blood sugar (R)
  • Enhances aerobic exercise performance (R)

The Bottom Line

Although there seems to be some exciting preliminary research on chlorella, more research is needed to figure out just how effective it is and what the best dosage is.

Matcha Green Tea:

It is a special type of green tea. Like normal green tea, matcha comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. The difference lies in the way it’s grown and it’s unique nutrient profile.

Farmers use a special technique that involves restricting sunlight exposure to the tea plants before they’re harvested. This increases chlorophyll production, boosts the amino acid content and gives the plant a darker green hue.

Matcha has skyrocketed in popularity in the past several years, with matcha shots, lattes, teas and even desserts appearing everywhere from health stores to coffee shops. Matcha flavored ice cream and gelato is very popular everywhere I’ve visited in Asia.

Studies on matcha have found the benefits include:

  • Boosts blood level of antioxidants (R)
  • Improves liver health (R, R)
  • Boosts brain function (R, R)
  • Prevents cancer (R, R, R)
  • Reduce triglycerides and cholesterol (R, R)

The Bottom Line

Matcha has scientifically-proven health benefits. It comes from the same plant as green tea. But since it’s made from entire leaf, it has a higher amount of antioxidants and beneficial phytochemicals compared to regular green tea.

Superfood blend ingredients:

Coconut water:

Not to be confused with coconut milk, this is the clear liquid found in green coconuts. It’s high in potassium and magnesium, both are important electrolytes that most people don’t get enough of. Organifi uses a powdered version of it.

Studies on coconut water have found the benefits include:

  • Lowers blood pressure (R, R)
  • Reduces oxidative stress (R)
  • Lowers cholesterol and triglycerides (R, R)
  • Restores hydration better than water after exercise (R)

The Bottom Line

Coconut water is a potassium and magnesium packed food that delivers several health benefits.

Ashwagandha:

Withania somnifera, known commonly as ashwagandha, is an herb has been used for over 3000 years Ayurvedic medicine (R). Ayurveda is India’s traditional natural practice of medicine and one of the world’s oldest healing systems.

More recently, ashwagandha has gotten popular because of all the scientifically proven benefits it has.

Studies on ashwagandha have found the benefits include:

  • Reduces anxiety levels (R, R, R)
  • Lowers the stress hormone cortisol (R, R)
  • Boosts strength and endurance (R, R, R)
  • Reduces symptoms of depression (R, R)
  • Improves male fertility (R)

 The Bottom Line

Ashwagandha is an herb with a long history of use and impressive benefits.

Beets:

Beta vulgaris is a dark red, purplish root vegetable. Besides being loaded with essential nutrients like fiber, folate (vitamin B9), manganese, potassium, iron, and vitamin C, beets are known to lower blood pressure and improve circulation. The cardiovascular benefits of beets are due to their high content of inorganic nitrates.

Studies on beets have found the benefits include:

  • Lower blood pressure in a matter of hours (R, R, R)
  • Boosted exercise performance (R, R, R)

The Bottom Line

Beets and beet juice are root vegetables with proven cardiovascular health properties and may boost exercise performance.

Turmeric:

Curcuma longa is a root and part of the ginger family. It has been used as a medicine, spice and preservative for thousands of years in India, China, and South East Asia (R). If you’re a fan of curry, turmeric is the spice that gives curries that signature yellow color.

Recently, science has started to back up what Asians have known for a long time — it really does contain compounds with powerful medicinal properties. Curcumin is the main active compound in turmeric. It has strong anti-inflammatory effects and is an impressive antioxidant as well.

Studies on turmeric have found the benefits include:

  • Lowers inflammation as effectively as anti-inflammatory drugs (R, R, R)
  • Boosts antioxidant levels (R, R, R)
  • Boosts brain levels of BDNF (R, R)
  • Decrease chances of heart attacks (R)
  • Prevent and fight cancer (R, R, R)
  • Prevents Alzheimer’s (R, R)

The Bottom Line

Turmeric, and its active ingredient curcumin, have some impressive health benefits proven by research.

Is Organifi Backed By Science?

While it seems that Organifi Green Juice uses legitimate ingredients proven by science to have a beneficial effect on human health, you might be wondering whether the combination of all the ingredients in the form of Organifi has been put to the test.

Well, Drew Canole, the founder of Organifi, conducted a third-party clinical trial on his product with some impressive results. I highly suggest you watch the video if you’re interested in taking Organifi:

My Personal Experience

I’ve been using Organifi daily. In this section, I’ll share my personal experience with you.

At the time I’m writing this, I’ve been living and traveling in Asia. Although it’s fairly convenient to get fresh vegetables and fruits—even exotic ingredients like fresh turmeric and moringa leaves—it’s definitely easier to make a glass of Organifi. I’ve found myself eating out a lot and getting much fewer vegetables in my diet so having Organifi as a back up has been nice.

How Much Do I Take?

I take 2 scoops per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Do I Notice A Difference?

I definitely feel a difference from taking it. I notice more energy and more mental clarity

What’s My Favorite Thing About Organifi?

Feeling a difference from drinking it is my favorite thing about drinking Organifi Green Juice. But I’d have to say that the taste is pretty good for a greens powder supplement. It’s minty and slightly sweet. That’s a big improvement from some of the other high-quality greens supplements I’ve tried that taste and smell like dried fish tank scum.

What’s My Least Favorite Thing About Organifi?

I’d have to say that the thing I like the least about Organifi is that they don’t list exact amounts of ingredients on their label. They have proprietary blends that sow the total amount of ingredients but you’re not sure how much of the individual ingredients you’re consuming.

Who Do I Think Should Drink Organifi?

If you’re someone who’s on the go like I am and you don’t want to travel with a bunch of superfood supplement bottles and/or you have trouble getting in enough greens in your diet, then you should give Organifi a try to see if you notice a difference from taking it.

Who Do You Think Should Not Take Organifi?

If you’re someone who’s looking for a “magic bullet” supplement to make up for your poor sleep, unhealthy diet, and lack of exercise, then you should focus on those things first. Supplements are supplemental. They’re in addition to living a healthy lifestyle not a substitute for it.

The Bottom Line

So you should you take Organifi or should you pass? That is the question. I think the best way to answer this question is to give it a try. I’ve done my best to inform you about what’s in Organifi, what I like about it, what I don’t like, and who I think should take it.

Ultimately, you’re going to have to try it out for yourself to answer this question. Everyone else is only a guide. You have to be the one that makes up your own mind.

So stop researching and don’t believe me or anyone else about Organifi. Buy a bottle of it for yourself and see if you feel a difference in your energy levels and health. That’s the best advice anyone can give you.
