Unstoppable After 40: How to increase your testosterone naturally, forget resveratrol and NR, take this supplement instead, and my favorite chest exercise

Today’s issue is brought to you by Unstoppable After 40 Coaching Program. We help entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners to get fit in their 40s & 50s while growing their businesses and enjoying their lifestyles. (In less than 2 hours per week) .

The biggest lie we’re told in society:

“Life is over at 40.”

I’m 47 and I feel amazing.

I’m just as vibrant as I was when I was in my 20s.

The secret?

Mastery over your health.

To be clear, I’m not talking about going through the motions…

“I eat healthy.”

“I go to the gym.”

“I watch my alcohol.”

“I’m pretty damn healthy.”

If you want to be in the best shape of your life in the 40s, 50s, or 60s, then you’re going to have to do better than that.

And the first place to start is with data.

That’s the 1st step in my system. Once we have your data about:

• Body fat %

• VO2 max

• Muscle mass

• Blood chemistry

• Functional fitness

Then we can make data-driven decisions about what to focus on to move the needle in a way that you’ll feel!

As the management guru Peter Drucker said, “You can’t manage what you don’t measure.”

Failing to use objective health metrics is why people get lackluster results from their efforts.

They take supplements because they listened to a podcast instead of reading their blood panel.

They do workouts that were marketed to them instead of designed based on their fitness level.

They follow diets because of influencers instead of what their body fat test says.

The great thing is that this won’t take you more time than you’re spending now.

However, it requires a big shift in your mindset.

But it’s worth it!

Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:

1. How to increase your testosterone naturally

There’s a lot of misunderstanding about testosterone.

Guys will have energy issues or a low sex drive and immediately attribute it to their T levels being low.

Even worse, there are many doctors out there who will test your testosterone one time and give you a low T diagnosis from that single reading. However, the literature says that testosterone levels will fluctuate during the day. And they’ll fluctuate every few weeks.

Why all the ups and downs?

Because of your lifestyle.

Have a week where you’re stressed, haven’t slept well, skipped the gym, and drank plenty of alcohol? Well, no wonder your T levels are low.

So instead of hopping on the TRT bandwagon, try to raise your testosterone levels naturally first.

Then, if you make a concerted effort to boost your T levels and they stay low? Then it’s time to find a good (emphasis on good here) doctor to help you.

That’s why I recorded this episode on how to raise your testosterone naturally:

2. Forget resveratrol and NR. Take this supplement instead…

Longevity “experts” recommend long lists of supplements like resveratrol and spermadine.

What they don’t say?

Supplements like these aren’t backed by as much science as you might think.

For example, in this 2022 randomized controlled trial on spermadine, there isn’t any difference between it and placebo.

Maybe they turn out to be amazing.

Maybe they turn out to be a waste of money.

Time will tell.

But do you want to know a supplement backed by mountains of research and has a whole host of benefits?

Fiber.

Yep, totally not sexy….but HIGHLY effective.

For example, in this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials with fiber supplementation in overweight and obese people, the following results were found to happen consistently:

  • Weight loss
  • Slimmer waistline
  • Better metabolic health
  • Lower fasting insulin levels

This is why I start all my coaching clients on a fiber supplement when they join.

Yes, you can get more fiber from better food choices.

But taking a supplement is an inexpensive and guaranteed way to make sure you’re getting enough!

3. My favorite chest exercise

One of my favorite chest exercises:

Ring Push-Ups.

Why?

The rings allow you to go deeper into the push-up than other variations. And the rings also add an element of instability. This causes other muscles to work harder to maintain the proper body position you perform each rep.

I used this variation along with the band-resisted push-up when I’m on the road to maintain my strength and upper body muscle mass.

How many reps and sets?

Start with 1-2 sets of 5-30 reps.

Then you can bump up the sets from there or elevate your feet to provide more resistance.

Give it a try!

Watch the exercise on Twitter or LinkedIn.

Legendary Life Coaching Client Highlight: David N.

Meet David, a 51-year-old executive from Canada who had a health scare and decided to take back control of his health.

He is like most of my clients; he is successful in his career but has struggled with his weight for almost two decades.

Despite facing a major work event and the heartache of losing a loved one to cancer, he chose to prioritize his health. “Life is happening now,” he said, and he joined my program. Proving that there’s never a perfect time to start—only the present.

In 5 months, David:

  • 20 lbs down with a flexible approach
  • Follows a custom travel fitness routine
  • Enjoys guilt-free vacations
  • Got his confidence back at work
  • Became a role model for his kids

He needed a program that fit his age, work schedule, food preferences, and lifestyle, and not the other way around.

Now, he’s not just maintaining his results; he’s optimizing his health metrics and VO2 Max for lifelong vitality.

Question of the week:

Imagine there is a small version of you and a big version.
When you are playing small, your behavior is timid, you feel less than others, and you are often surrounded by people and projects that drain you.
When you are playing big, your behavior is confident, you feel motivated, and you tend to invest in people and projects that energize you.
How can you spend more time playing the big version of yourself this year?
