Today’s issue is brought to you by Unstoppable After 40 Coaching Program. We help entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners to get fit in their 40s & 50s while growing their businesses and enjoying their lifestyles. (In less than 2 hours per week) .
So I’ve been back in Lisbon, Portugal for a month now.
And it’s been a great reminder how so many Americans believe in diets myths…
Sugar makes you fat.
Carbs cause weight gain.
Avoid dessert for fat loss.
None of these are true.
Before you reply with hate messages, I’m not saying that eating pastries like the ones in this photo are good for you.
But what I am saying is that you can get away with eating like this with ZERO weight gain or negative effects to your health.
I’m proof of that.
I’ve been getting leaner in preparation for my in-person event in Miami this October. But I’ve also been going out to pastry shops like this as well as restaurants and bars.
This is the most action my social life has seen in a long time! Haha
So the point of this story is to let you know that there are strategies that allow you to have your cake (or Portuguese pastries lol) and eat them too!
These are also the same strategies that I teach my executive and entrepreneur clients in my coaching program.
But you’re not gonna learn them by accident or by watching a bunch of Youtube videos. Or by reading my newsletter.
Because it’s more like learning how to play a sport than something you can read about and do quickly.
That’s why I get highly intelligent and successful folks signing up to work with me.
That’s also why despite their success in other areas, they haven’t been able to get the results they want on their own.
Anyone can go on a strict diet and lose 15-20 lbs.
But most gain it back.
Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:
My Secret Fat Loss Rule
Everyone knows the importance of building healthy habits.
But few people realize that when they quit their healthy habits, they’re still building unhealthy ones.
For example, I tell my clients:
• Never miss 2 workouts in a row
• Never eat 2 unhealthy meals in a row
• Never go to bed late 2 nights in a row
Why?
Because you start to build a habit of it.
So it’s not so much that people need to build healthy habits because they’re a blank slate.
It’s that they already have unhealthy habits that are hard to break.
That’s why I teach them the “Never Miss Twice” Rule
Keep this in mind!
The #1 way to reduce stress (according to the latest science)
Feeling stressed?
Then try meditation.
Because a 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis of 58 studies to compare stress management techniques and their cortisol-lowering effects.
They looked at 4 categories:
- Talk therapy
- Mind-Body training
- Relaxation techniques
- Mindfulness & meditation
Mindfulness and meditation came in first place. Relaxation techniques (e.g., breathing exercises) came in second. Mindbody training (yoga + biofeedback) and talk therapy were not effective at lowering cortisol levels.
I won’t go into detail on this as I’ve benefitted from both therapy and yoga.
But the take-away is clear.
Lowering stress fast has more to do with how you address your physiology than how you talk about it.
This is why I meditate (almost) every single day.
In fact, I just meditated for 20 minutes before writing this Newsletter today because it puts me into the right state to create.
How to relieve neck pain in 3 minutes
Suffering from a sore neck?
Then do isometric neck flexion holds.
All you need is a small exercise ball or thick folded towel.
Press and hold for 60-seconds.
Repeat a few times throughout the day to relieve neck tension from long periods of sitting.
Or do 2-4 sets to build some strength and muscle. Rest 60-90 seconds in between sets.
Give it a try!

Quote of the Week:
“Focus on your likes, not your wants.
- You may not want to exercise, but you like how it makes you feel.
- You may not want to write, but you like the feeling of accomplishment.
- You may not want to wake up early, but you like the calm beauty of morning.
Wanting is the desire you feel before doing something. Liking is the satisfaction you feel after doing something. Let your likes guide you.”
