Ask Ted Question:
“Hi Ted/Gisele,
Wanted to say hi and ask you a quick question.
Like you; I recently developed a herniated disc, I understand yours was cervical, mine was the common lumbar, L5/S1, it is mild, initially I had a radiculopathy that caused leg pain and went away. I rested up from powerlifting (I’m a newbie but under the constant guidance of a pro so my form is tight) then when I went back to it I keep getting a flare up. Wanted to know briefly if you got time:
1) How you did your injury?
2) What you recommend for recovery? (I do all the standard rest, PT, saids, and time off, but keep getting injured after returning form layoff.)
3) I hear you are into body weight exercises, part of me is thinking about giving up the powerlifting cos it sucks to be injured all the time, the other part of me loves the part about putting weight on the bar and the power/strength and size it yields – are body weight exercises a good option?
Thanks for your time.”
