When it comes to coaching clients, I’m always “all in.”
But truth be told, I’ve been slacking on growing my business.
Don’t get me wrong.
We’ve hit our highest income months ever in 2023.
But we’ve still been playing small.
Why do I say this?
I could give you stats. But the truth is that it’s a feeling. I know I could be doing so much more. Because I’ve been trying to 2x my business. And it’s been feeling like a LOT of work.
The reason is I’ve been trying to mix business with pleasure.
In fact, I’m on a flight to Italy as I write this.
I’ll be taking a 2-week trip. But I’ll have to work a lot so it won’t really be a vacation.
I won’t be able to relax 100% or be 100% with work.
And that’s how I’ve been doing things recently.
But, no more.
I’ve decided to focus on going all-in with business growth. Although it’ll feel painful to sit in one place and focus on work, I know that the long-term pay off will be 2-week trips without working at all.
This is also the conversation I have with many people who want coaching. They don’t realize that fully committing to your health is easier than dabbling.
When you dabble, you don’t get great results. It gets old. And you end up having a hard time keeping up with your plan.
So, my question to you is what is the thing in your life that you’re still dabbling instead of fully committing? And how much longer are you going to let this situation continue?
That being said…
Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:
1. When eating healthy is unhealthy
A nutrition professor went on a low-calorie diet of Twinkies, Doritos, and Oreo cookies to prove that total calories, not healthier foods, are the key to weight loss.
He lost 27 pounds in 2 months.
You may think he became unhealthy as a result of eating all that junk food even though he lost weight
But that’s not what happened.
His biomarkers for heart health improved. He reduced his triglycerides (circulating fat in the blood) by 39%, dropped his LDL by 20% and raised his HDL by 20%.
My point is that calorie in and calorie out matters.
If you’re loading up on olive oil, avocado, and organic, grass-fed ribeye steak, understand that you don’t get a pass because on calories because you’re eating clean.
While I wouldn’t recommend doing the “Twinkie Diet” you can eat some unhealthy foods while improving your health if you focus on total calories.
Keep this in mind if you’re “eating clean” but not losing fat.
You don’t have to count calories but calories always count.
2. Perfection Vs Consistency
This is a concept that I teach my clients over and over. I remind them constantly that perfection is NOT the goal. You aim high for most of the thing in your life and that’s why you’re a high achiever, I get it. But beating yourself up when you miss the mark? That’s not the path. Instead, shoot for consistency!
Forget about cutting ALL the junk; just cut most. Instead of trying to workout EVERY day, how about most days? Aim to eat right most meals and remember – one bad day doesn’t define your journey. Pick yourself up and keep going!
Life’s not about an all-or-nothing approach. It’s about showing up, again and again. Trust me, in the long run, consistency will always take the win over perfection.
And that’s why health and fitness for long-term results is not about having the perfect workout or diet, it’s about changing your approach. Your mindset is KEY for mastering the health and fitness game.
