Great interview – love the variety of topics covered. My favorite is what it means to be a man. In the society I grew up in, there’s a disturbing lack of will. No one takes his dreams seriously (if he has any), and standards are awfully low – having an office job is deemed the peak of achievement. Without any real model of inspiration in sight, I often found myself turning to fictional figures for clearer examples of true men. Characters who shout at the world and make sure things will go their way, even if briefly. Individuals who exercise their will is a constant in many great stories (Spartacus comes to mind).
If I had to add a few ideas to this vital question, I’d say: be bound by nothing, lead a life that is in alignment with your morals and values, and bring a positive contribution to the world. Or in other words, and as Mike says, live life on your terms.
Also, the necessity for physical activities is an excellent point – it may sound obvious but then you see people whose poor shape influences their mood and brings their mind to a state of stagnation and inactivity. They have no projects going on and waste their neurons on negative thoughts. The best moment of the day for me is when I walk out of the gym after a good workout, I feel born anew. Even after having went through a bad day (and God knows how many I’ve had), anxiety is washed away and replaced by excitement. My brain is on fire and a torrent of ideas erupts in my mind,
Overall I enjoyed listening to this podcast, really got me thinking, but the biggest takeaway is that I may have never discovered Ted’s website or podcast if it weren’t for Mike linking to it. Now I have a new series to delve into (but only after finishing work!).
Thanks for having me on, Ted! Looking forward to talking more.
